Prom. New.

Prom was this past weekend. Saturday night to be exact, but it definitely took over the entire day.

Lizzy wore a red dress full of sequins, with a low back that flattered her figure. We took her to get her hair done and her curls were tucked and pinned into place for the night.

My beautiful girl.

Friday night her and her friends got together to do each other's nails and to watch movies.

I don't know if they talked about it, but maybe they simply needed to be together. They were preparing for their last high school dance and perhaps there was comfort in being together. There is so much unknown in front of them at this point in their lives; new schools, new friends, new adventures, new trials, new living arrangements.

New.

New is exciting, but also  a little scary. New is adventurous and terrifying, it is unknown and a little uncomfortable.

But this weekend, as they celebrated the old and the new, they had each other.

They got to put on a fancy dress, do themselves up beautiful, and celebrate where they've been and where they are going.

I think I need to remind myself to do the same, even if it feels like I'm old, and done with new doors.

I know there is always new waiting, but I also know the older I get, the more difficult it is to be brave. I also have more excuses for not walking through new doors.

So, here's to these beautiful girls and their courage.

I think they are inspiring.

I love that these two have been friends since before kindergarten. Look at how lovely they are.
